1st Annual Event

Event Summary 10/27/24

At our recent event, we welcomed Chantelle Mitchell as our keynote speaker who is a youth/family advocate and family relationship specialist. She spoke alongside several other insightful speakers who contributed to a powerful discussion on domestic violence. The main speaker shared compelling statistics on domestic violence cases, shedding light on the prevalence and impact of this issue in our communities.

We were truly honored to welcome attendees from our vibrant community, including those from Charleston, Hollywood, Adams Run, Parker's Ferry, Ravenel, and Edisto Island. Your presence underscored the importance of unity in addressing domestic violence. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our local businesses whose generous donations made this event possible. Your support is invaluable in our mission to raise awareness and provide resources for survivors.

We also want to acknowledge the family members of survivors who courageously shared their stories. Their contributions highlighted the profound effects of abuse and emphasized that emotional abuse is also a form of domestic abuse that can affect anyone.

Participants learned about the dangers posed by intimate relationships intertwined with negative emotions, especially when weapons are involved. The event highlighted important red flags of abusers, equipping attendees with the knowledge to recognize warning signs before violence occurs. We discussed the necessity of emotional intelligence in relationships, emphasizing that being aware and protecting oneself can help identify these red flags early on.

Our speakers focused on healing and the importance of teaching children about emotional intelligence and healthy relationships from a young age. By fostering awareness and understanding, we can empower future generations to recognize and prevent domestic violence.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, and we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated. Your support and engagement made this gathering meaningful, and we could not have achieved this without the strength of our community. Thank you for showing up, especially those from our local community and rural community, for standing with us in this vital mission!
